The Future of Global Connectivity

In the autumn of 2025, Tbilisi will once again become the center of global economy and politics. On October 22-23, the 5th Tbilisi Silk Road Forum will take place here, which over the decade of its existence has become one of the most significant international events connecting East and West. The forum will gather more than two thousand participants from more than sixty countries worldwide—presidents, ministers, heads of major companies, representatives of international organizations, investors, and journalists.
This year's theme sounds particularly relevant: "Invest in Connectivity—Thrive in Stability." In the context of rapid geopolitical changes and transformation of the global economy, it is precisely connectivity—transport, energy, digital—that becomes the guarantee of sustainability and prosperity.
Georgia has historically been a crossroads of cultures and trade routes. It was here, on the ancient Silk Road, that the routes of merchants and caravans connecting Europe and Asia intersected for centuries. Today, this heritage takes on new significance. In the modern world, Georgia is becoming part of the Middle Corridor—the Trans-Caspian International Transport Route that connects China and Europe through Central Asia and the Caucasus.
Thanks to its strategic position, Georgia plays the role of a natural bridge between continents. Investments in infrastructure, port development, railway modernization, construction of digital and energy highways are turning the country into a key link in the global economy. This is precisely why the Tbilisi Silk Road Forum has become not only a platform for discussions but also an instrument of real solutions for the world community.
The forum program promises to be rich and multifaceted. Over two days in Tbilisi, the main challenges and opportunities facing the world community will be discussed.
At the upcoming forum, participants' attention will focus on strategic directions that determine the economic future of the region and the world. Among the topics to be discussed are the transformation of global supply chains and new orientations of world trade. Special attention will be given to the development of the Middle Corridor, which is becoming an increasingly significant alternative to traditional routes. No less relevant will be discussions about regional energy cooperation and the gradual transition to renewable energy sources. Participants will also examine the role of digital transformation and implementation of innovative technologies as key factors of sustainable growth. A separate block will be devoted to investment opportunities in Georgia and the region, where experts and business representatives will discuss new prospects for international partners. Special attention will be paid to financial and digital innovations. For the first time within the forum framework, a major fintech summit will be held, organized jointly with the Singapore-based Global Finance and Technology Network organization. This summit will unite fintech industry leaders, regulators, and investors from around the world and will confirm Georgia's rapidly growing role as a regional center of digital finance.
The Tbilisi Forum has always been a place where ideas turn into actions. At previous meetings, agreements on strategic partnerships were signed and new transport companies were created here. This year, the emphasis is on infrastructure projects that can change the future of the region.
Of particular interest are the plans for constructing the deep-water port of Anaklia, an ambitious project capable of opening new horizons for Black Sea trade. No less significant are projects for laying underwater energy and digital cables through the Black Sea, which will directly connect the South Caucasus with Europe.
For investors, developers, and politicians, this is a unique opportunity not only to discuss prospects but also to become part of global initiatives.
In addition to official sessions and panels, the Forum will traditionally serve as a platform for B2B and B2G meetings. Here, business and government representatives will be able to negotiate deals, sign agreements, and outline new projects. The exhibition and investment zone will allow countries and companies to present their achievements and innovations, and startups to find investors and partners. Such formats have already proven their effectiveness: hundreds of bilateral meetings took place at previous forums, many of which resulted in long-term contracts and joint initiatives.
The Silk Road Forum has become a symbol of Georgia's new role in the global economy. Here, ideas are formed that help the world cope with challenges: from supply chain vulnerabilities to the need for energy transition and digital revolution. Georgia offers the world not only geographical advantage but also political will, a stable business environment, and readiness for reforms. This is precisely what makes the country a reliable partner for international investors and strategic initiatives.
The 5th Tbilisi Silk Road Forum promises to become an event that will set the tone for new formats of cooperation in Eurasia. It will unite leaders and innovators, public and private structures, developed and developing economies. The forum's main message is simple and clear: by investing in connectivity, countries strengthen their stability and open the path to prosperity. Tbilisi is ready to welcome the world again to prove that only through open dialogue, joint actions, and mutual trust can we build a future where East and West are connected by strong and reliable ties.
Geopolitical shifts, energy crisis, digital revolution, and the search for new transport routes create both challenges and new opportunities for states and business. The forum in Tbilisi reflects the challenges of modernity and offers a platform where representatives of different countries can build trust, seek balance of interests, and jointly form long-term solutions. This is precisely why interest in the event grows every year, and more and more countries and companies understand that a sustainable future is impossible without global connectivity.
